Insanity- Days 7-16

Well, I've just entered my third week and completed my second fit test! I have to say... Insanity is one of the hardest things I've ever done, but also the most rewarding. In doing the fit test for the second time today I was able to see how far I've come in just two weeks. I increased in all eight moves and not just by a couple of reps- we're talking on some of them, I increased by 20 reps. I think that's something to be proud of! As much as I may hate it sometimes, the results don't lie. I feel very accomplished today!

While I do enjoy Insanity, I'm starting to feel like a lot of the workouts are way too similar. Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart! That's really the main downside to this program- variety is scarce. That's something I loved with P90X, and it's not something I'm really getting with Insanity. However, given how quickly I'm progressing, my complaints are minimal. It really does work, and it works quickly- if you're willing to put in the effort.

On some of the workouts I'm still having to pause once or twice to catch my breath, but this is an improvement from having to pause three or four times per workout like I did in the beginning! And I'm able to get through the warm ups without feeling like dying, so that's exciting. Seeing these little improvements is really keeping me going at this point. Although I do have to say- this program works the calves harder than pretty much everything else put together. I can't begin to describe the pain they've been in! There's A LOT of leg work in the Insanity workouts. An extreme amount. Luckily I have very strong legs- I just wish that the workouts were as hard on my abs and upper body as it is on my legs.

All in all, things are going very well though. I'm really starting to get the hang of the program and while I am not following the diet plan, I've started to notice myself craving things I don't normally crave. My habits are changing, slowly but surely. And I swear that I can actually feel my lungs growing inside my chest. Probably not possible, but I know that my lung capacity has increased. They feel so much more open- it's hard to describe, but totally true! It's like the inside of my chest has grown or something. Very cool. I can't wait to try this out with running and see how it's improved my pace!

  1. Congrats on your result. I have to say, what a massive improvement in your fit test, I don't think I saw that massive jump in my numbers. I bet your gonna love month 2 of this program.

  2. I have just started and am on day 5 you are right legs are over done in my opion and I hope that month two has some different warm ups and workouts. I suppose there is only so much you can do with your own body considering that there is no equipment used, keep up the hard work I aim to try p90x once I have completed insanity
